Athens, the capital of Greece, was vibrant and energetic. Athens is quite different from other grand European cities I have visited – most of Athens is a modern concrete city with a bit of grit rather than having streets lined with grand architecture. That said, Athens has made it to be a favourite of mine with its interesting markets, food stalls serving delicious grilled meat, good museums, neo-classical Greek architecture and above all the majestic Parthenon.
