Built in 1912 with Hindu & Islamic elements, the tower was placed next to the Zahir Mosque so that the muezzin could verify the prayer times before the call to prayer was made. In those early days before personal timepieces, citizens relied on clock towers such as these. Note the half crescent of Islam on the dome.
