Up until 1983, when it assumed its new role as the royal museum, the palace had been the official residence of the royal family, & many royal ceremonies were held here, especially wedding ceremonies. [This part of the palace complex was officially converted into the Royal Museum during the celebrations of Sultan Abdul Halim’s Silver Jubilee on July 25, 1983.]
