Having made five trips to Scotland in the last eight years is probably evidence enough that it is a special place to us. We have been fortunate enough that these trips have usually been three and four weeks in length so we never feel rushed or like we are skimming the surface of the place. We've covered a large part of the country during these trips but there is still much we haven't seen. Our sixth trip is already in pencil on the calendar.

Admittedly, our behavior is not typical. No one we know takes holidays like this. We know there are many interesting and beautiful places in this world because we've checked out many of the pages here on Worldisround. Yet Scotland will continue to be our destination. We do have some ancestral connections but there is no known family still there. Even with no known family in Scotland, the ancestral pull may be part of why we go. But there is more than that. We have never been able to exactly express what we feel, but we are both happier when we are in Scotland. We think about the place even when we aren't in the midst of planning a trip. It is never far from our minds and we both read all we can about it, both its history and current affairs. Our behavior is almost the definition of being in love.

So here are some more pictures we love of the place we love.
