"Lanus"

Today Saturday was centered on a trip to the town of Lanus just outside of Buenos Aires. We were off with our driver Christian to see Nelly's best friend Lydia. It didn't take long for us to get lost through the provincial streets as we combed through the impossible to read maps. Anywhere in the suburbs of Buenos Aires can be a real trip unless you really know where you are going. We finally figured it out and got to Lydia's house about an hour late. We were greeted with wide open arms and were treated to a wonderful homemade dinner of ensalada Rusa, homemade ravioli's in a light meat sauce, stewed beef in tomato sauce, fruit salad, coffee and the wonderful fine pastries that we purchased down the block from our house(See Pictures). We continue to find all kinds of amazing places right on our own block. We had a nice time with Lydia, Aldo and company but Christian came to pick us up at 4:30 P.M. and of course we got lost again driving back to the Capitol. At home Bridget and I rested a bit and took care of housekeeping duties. We headed out for a late night dinner at a restaurant right down the block from us called "Campechano". We had a great meal here. We started with Bridget's favorite Grilled Provolone, which was the tastiest we have had yet, I went for a portion of Argentine sausage and Morcilla (Blood Sausage) that were both nicely spiced and tasty. Bridget had the Bife de Chorizo and papas fritas which was the best steak yet in Buenos Aires. I went for the main course of Roasted Lamb ala Parrilla. This was cooked whole on the open pit with red wood cinders. The skin was crispy and unbelieveably tasty, the meat was cooked to perfection. A super great meal only seconds from our apartment. We skipped dessert, (What a shock!!) and headed strait to bed with a busy day ahead of us as we prepare for our big trip to Las Cataratas de Iguazu.
