However, our trip was very enjoyable. The sightseeing was terrific. Bangkok is a very colorful city as you will see from the pictures. The dollar to baht exchange rate is always very favorable. It was more so that year when we visited. To those who have not seen Bangkok yet, I strongly recommend going there. Everything is very cheap there. For example, a 2-hour long body massage had cost us only 2-3 US dollars! If you can manage the airfare, just go to Bangkok. You will have a very good vacation at a very economical price. The only downside is that the plane journey to Banglok is really long. From the east coast of United States, it takes roughly 24 hours to reach Bangkok. We had a short break and a plane change at Tokyo. We were really tired when we arrived at Bangkok. On the plus side, it is real easy to calculate the time difference. Bangkok time is exactly 12 hours ahead of New York time!
Thai food is excellent. But remember that it is about 100 times more hot than the food served in Thai restaurants in the United States. Just learn the Thai word for "mild" before you go. If I remember right, that word is "mai pet" (please look that up in a travel book). The local language (Thai) can be a problem for most Westerners. But that is the challenge all travelers has to face when going to exotic places.
Okay, without any more introduction, here are some of the pictures from our trip. I shall publish more here shortly.
