"Once and the Abasto"

Today was a relatively quiet day as we slowly got our sore bodies moving. We are paying the price today for yesterday's all day horseback riding. So many muscles that I didn't know I had. We met my uncle and his wife for lunch near his work, I had spinach gnocci in a light tomato sauce with pieces of meat inside, Bridget had a milanesa sandwich with french fries. Bridget said the best part of the meal was a delicious warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. After lunch Bridget and I took the subway to the Abasto Shopping Center in the Once district. This is a beautiful old market that was converted into a huge mall and entertainment center. They have a great food court with all kinds of wonderful regional foods. They also have 3 McDonalds (One Kosher) and a Burger King. To my continual amazement with all the great food options available the McDonalds had ten cashiers with ten deep at each line, all the other places nearly empty!! We got out of there and explored the Once neiborhood which is known for it's discount stores and shops. We picked-up a travel bag and some gifts for the boys. We stopped for a beer and a Sprite and then took a cab home, Bridget took a few pictures on the way. We were too tired to go out tonight so we are hitting the hay early and getting ready for a good day tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their messages to us on the blog. We love reading them and we are sorry that we can't respond easily to each one of them because of the way our computer is configured. Please keep them coming. We love hearing from Marie, Edward and all of you. We especially love reading Uncle Edward's commentaries in Spanish. Keep them coming, we love your Castellano!! See you tomorrow. Love you all!! Henry
