Rising above the modern administration building on the edge of Fort Qu'appelle, is the world's largest occupied tipi (teepee) housing the Chief's Legislative Assembly of the Treaty 4 First Nations. One important tourist event is the annual Treaty 4 Gathering which is held on the grounds of the Governance Center, the site where the First Nations groups camped before signing the treaty. The week-long event, celebrating the signing of Treaty 4, began again in 2000 after a hiatus of more than 100 years. It is held every September during the week of the 15th & includes Pow-Wows during the week. For more information about Treaty 4, please see the introductory text.
