The historic Hudson Bay general store
Sightseeing in Saskatchewan picture - on main street. Because the arrival of a large number of settlers caused the disappearance of the buffalo from the area & the waning of the fur trade, the Hudson Bay Company changed its direction from the supplies & fur trades, to real estate and stores. So in 1897, the company built this brick & stone general store in town, outside the fort. This stone building still stands at the corner of Broadway Street & Company Avenue & was designated a provincial heritage property.
