During my 2006 Scandinavia trips I spent a few days in Stockholm from which I took a day trip to Uppsala. Gamla Uppsala, which was settled as far back as the Iron Age, was a major pagan and later Christian relgious center. It features several Viking burial mounds including three believed to be for the first three Svea kings. The Uppsala Cathedral was first built here - its successor is the Gamla Uppsala Parish Church. Disagarden is a nearby open air museum.
