The plaque says: "Apostle of the Crees, Saulteux, and Sioux. Erected by the people of Canada, 1926." In French, it also says that he was born at Colombe (Izere) France in 1848, missionary to the Indians & Metis of the Northwest 1874-1917, founder & principal of the Indian residential school 1884- 1917, died at Lebret 1917.
