The Boab Prison tree on the outskirts of town was used to lockup Aboriginal prisoners. It was the last stopover point for patrols returning to Derby. Capable of holding a number of prisoners it has an entrance which is about one metre wide and two metres high. This huge tree is believed to be around 1,500 years old and has a girth of 14.7 metres.
