During my 2006 Scandinavia trip, I spent three nights in Trondheim. Founded in 997, it was the first capital of Norway. Today it is Norway's 3rd largest city, a university town, and support city for Norway's North Sea oil industry. But it is also home to the Nidaros Cathedral, the Sverresborg Trondelag Folkemuseum, the Norwegian crown jewels and a number of other museums and historic sites.
