During my 2006 Scandinavia vacation, I took a day trip to Roskilde from Copenhagen. Founded in 998AD, Roskilde was a major religious center and Denmark's capital until the Reformation. It was also the site of a major Viking ship find, making it a popular day trip destination from Copenhagen, 22 miles away.
