- that's one of the three ways you can go down to the old harbour of Fira. Do yourself and the donkeys a favour - and walk down those approximately 600 steps or choose the ride on the cable car. Believe me - not for you nor for the animals could this ride down those stone steps ever be a joy! I tried it, and liking donkeys and liking horse riding - I couldn't enjoy it a bit. It's plain dangerous, agony to the donkeys and it takes for ever to reach the harbour - nearly missed the boat..
