I had the good fortune to spend two days in Athens prior to embarking on an Aegean Sea cruise and one more day prior to returning home. The charming aspect of Athens is the plethora of centuries old archeological relics that punctuate the otherwise modern cityscape. Athens is also well served by an excellent transit system. The subway and tramlines are modern and efficient and offer an idiot proof way of exploring the various neighbourhoods of this surprisingly laid back and welcoming city.
