Site of High Street School Towns in Somerset picture - This is the site of the non conformist school built in 1854. It was enlarged in 1870 and was a junior school from 1925 until 1960. Margaret Bondfield (inset) born 1873, was a pupil here. When Ramsay McDonald became Prime Minister for a second time in 1929 he appointed her as his new Minister of Labour. She therefore became the first woman in history to gain a place in the British Cabinet.
