Zanzibar - the spice island - holiday for Aug 2006. There is so much history to this island that any visitor needs to read up on before visiting.

It was a mixture of rich and poor. The capital, Stone Town, did have some fine features, but the shanty town outside was less pleasant with litter and particularly blue plastic bags everywhere. To their credit, the Government are now addressing this.

Further out into the island itself, there was so much of beauty, both the scenery and the wildlife. ... (more)
