Sun. Sept. 23, 2007- I got off work at 3pm, grabbed my pack and had my wife drive me about 30 miles north to an area called the Yellow Cat mining district, north of Arches NP. I was hoping to get to within a couple miles of the Arches boundary, but a storm the night before had left the dirt roads a muddy, mucky mess and I was forced to get out and hike about 7.5 miles, 5 more than I was planning.
