Puerto Natales is a transition place for people both arriving and leaving Chilean Patagonia and it's national parks. The local people is well aware of that. They adopted almost all their businesses to this mere fact and you can find here any type of service they imagine a trekker might ever need.

We arrived there on January 22nd, 2006 from Punta Arenas and, after visiting Torres del Paine NP, we left on January 30th to Argentina. To arrive from Punta Arenas by bus, it took more than 3 hours. To get from there to El Calafate in Argentina, it took also a couple of hours.

The weather was coldish here even in the summer. The sky was mostly cloudy and often drizzling. Most of the visitors, while being here, were discussing their impressions (and expectations) from the trips they made (or will make) into the surrounding nature, well hidden in some of local bars or restaurants in order to avoid the bad weather outside. So we did join as well, while enjoying the local fresh seafood in the restaurants and the hospitality of the local bars.

Did you ever know how relaxing and regenerating is the seafood after a several-day trekking trip in the mountains?

The pics show my impressions and, I hope, the overall atmosphere, too. Enjoy them!
