The magnificent Iguazu Falls was the second destination of my three week trip to Brazil. As I based myself in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina, I decided to post this article under Argentina.

The town of Puerto Iguazu itself is a touristy, frontier town. Although the falls are the main attraction of the region, the town boasts some good restaurants, souvenir stores, nice viewpoints and one great museum of Aripuca. You can see the red soil that the region is famous for. It felt great to come back to the Argentinean soil and sank my teeth in the delicious Argentine beef!

The first day of my independent GAP adventure tour was spent on the Argentine side of the magnificent Iguazu Falls. On the day of visit, the sky was very dark but fortunately it did not rain until around three thirty in the afternoon. The Argentine side of the falls gives a much closer and wetter experience of the mighty waterfalls. I especially enjoyed the rugged nature that surrounds the falls. The trip to the Devil’s Throat was certainly a highlight! The tour to the Argentine side of the falls took almost one full day.

On the second day, in the morning I toured the town of Puerto Iguazu’s attractions. In the afternoon, I went to the Brazilian side of the falls. The Brazilian side offers a fantastic overview of the falls. The colonial Hotel das Cataratas is especially elegant and lovely. It took me around two hours to walk around the trails of the Brazilian side of the falls. Fortunately the weather was nice, and I could enjoy the tranquil nature of this amazing park.
