Sightseeing in Saskatchewan picture - According to a recent census, there are some 500 residents in Ponteix of which 43% are Fransaskois (francophones or French Canadians living in the Saskatchewan). Ponteix was founded in 1908 by a priest from France who established a parish and hamlet north of Notukeu Creek called Notre-Dame dAuvergne. Five years later, the townsite was moved south of the creek when the CPR laid their track south of the creek. After the move, the community was renamed Ponteix after the priest's parish in France.
