This building was once the old post office but after 40 years of neglect it had become dangerous and was threatened with demolition. A large grant towards the restoration by the Bruton Trust, that was formed in 1970, saved the building. The project was completed in 1985 and is now a superb Restaurant known as the Claire de Lune. According to the town guide, the food is strictly seasonal and the chefs use local gardens for the vegetables, nearby estates for the game, local farmers for the meat and the Dorset Coast for the fish.
