Church Bridge
Towns in Somerset picture - The tranquil River Brue flows under Church Bridge but throughout it's history Bruton has suffered severe flooding and in 1982 the town suffered the worst flood for some 70 years. Due to this, the flood retention dam was built about one and half miles east of the town. This Dam has a permanently open 6 feet square pipe at the bottom which acts as a flow regulator to control the total amount of water in the river at Church Bridge without any human intervention.
