During my 2007 Utah road trip, I spent a few days in Page, AZ. Just east of Page on Navajo Nation lands is Antelope Canyon, a Navajo Nation Park. Here a narrow, winding slot canyon has been carved into the sandstone rock just above what is now Lake Powell. I visited Upper Antelope Canyon in 2004, so this time I visited the lower canyon, which is deeper and more extensive.

For the most part, the canyon is a marvel of rock and light, the sandstone worn into a corkscrew canyon by a succession of flash floods. With all the different angles of the rock, the look changes with the angle, the time of day and the time of year. Visits at different times on the same day can create a very different experience. The attached pictures capture some of what I saw as I made my way through the canyon.
