<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> The Blanco County courthouse<br> Sightseeing in Hill Country picture - Johnson city is the county seat for Blanco County, which was created in 1858. It was an amalgamation of several counties &#38; the county seat, at that time, was in Blanco. However, the county lost some territory in the south in 1862 when Kendall county was formed, so there was pressure to move the county seat further north to Johnson City so that it would be more central. (The original mandate of the county stated that the county seat must be within 5 miles of the center.). After two failed elections to move the seat to Johnson City, they were successful in the 3rd election &#38; the county seat was relocated to Johnson City in 1890. </div></nolayer></noembed>
