This photo is taken at Stovepipe Wells Village where we stopped for a drink and to take stock of where we were at. At the next village stop, Panamint Springs, we met a nice woman who was the bookkeeper at the Village motel and not only did she give us good advice and encouragement as to how to get to Santa Barbara--only about 4 hours away--but she also gave us a California map and highlighted our route. So off we went on our adventure to the coast, feeling cheerful and excited.
