These photographs were taken over a two-year period when I worked as a volunteer for the charity Trade Aid in Southern Tanzania. During this time, I lived in the historic coastal town of Mikindani close to the Mozambique border. After arriving from the UK I stayed with a Tanzanian family for three weeks to learn Swahili (they spoke no English) and to adjust to the culture and climate.
