Photo: Shahram Razavi --- Numerous polls have time after time shown that some approximately 70-75% of the Swedes prefer monarchy over a republic. This in spite of the fact that most of the Swedish parliament would rather see a republic replace the constitutional monarchy. The Swedish royals live by strict rules which forbid them to make any kind of political remarks about anything, and they have to pay taxes. Sweden was the first monarchy in the world where the royals had to pay taxes.
