{“The Mouth of Hell”} This is an area a short walk to the west of Cascais, on the way to the Guincho Beach. It is a rocky indentation which squeezes the incoming waves, so they shoot up to as much as 30m (100 ft) with tremendous noise. On this occasion, what we see is the end result of a normal sea swell, not a storm. Imagine what it’s like in heavy weather -- thus the name!
