Destroyed in 1147 and only partially restored so that tourists may wander around safely, they stand forlorn on top of one of the Sintra hills . They are, however, located within the overall 200 hectare (c. 1 sq. mi.) Pena Park, which has other artifacts, carefully planned vegetation, and fabulous views.
