For my Spokane 2005 trip I planned to do some hiking in the mountains just north of Wallace, ID. I picked what sounded like an interesting trail, and once I reached Wallace I took the road north out of town towards the trail head.

Alas, I took the wrong road, something that had sunk in even before I reached Cooper Pass. But there were a few trail signs at Cooper Pass, so instead of wasting the day in a car looking for the trail I had originally wanted, I decided to take one of the trails here. I soon found myself enjoying a very nice bit of hiking along the Old Stateline Trail, eventually reach Pear Lake, where I cooled off for a bit before returning to my car.

It may not have been the hike I had planned on, but it was such a great trail I would return there a couple years later. Funny how things work out.
