After wasting months of our lives trying to organise freighter cruises to New Zealand, we cut short our losses and drove the Great Ocean Road in Victoria instead :-)

The scenery was excellent, and we ended up seeing the Grampians and Mount Macedon as well. We were lucky with the weather - most of the time we had bright sunshine while Brisbane got soaked with much needed rain.

Rather than fly, we caught the XPT from Brisbane to Sydney to Melbourne - then hired a car - before returning on the XPT. 2 days each way - but at least you get to see some fascinating countryside in both directions.
