Visiting Humberstone
Humberstone (together with St. Laura) is a fine example of one of the numerous salpeter works, deserted in the late fifties, when agricultural fertiliser was produced in a chemical way. The site (industrial heritage) is a museum and now placed on the list of World Heritage in Danger of UNESCO. Humberstone is located in the Province of Iquique not far from the coast.
