This Branch Line opened in 1853 and closed in 1964. This is an ongoing project for 2008 so check back from time to time. Concentrating at the moment on the Durston Martock section. For more info & pictures go to http://dbown100.tripod.com/Durstonrailway.htm Contact me at dbown100@hotmail.com The line ran from Durston Junction, to Lyng, Athleney, Oath, Langport, Thorney, Coat, Martock, then on to Yeovil. The start of the line, Durston Junction, was located east of Durston in the hamlet of Outwood, on the east side of the road bridge over the main line railway. Here there was the junction, a station, no longer existing, and also a Railway Hotel, which is still there although now a private dwelling with a ‘Keep Out’ sign.
