Sioux Winter Count, Lewis and Clark Center, Sioux City, South Dakota. We entered South Dakota from the Southeast, crossing the Missouri River at Sioux City. Our first stop was the Lewis and Clark Center where I took this photo of a Sioux Winter Count, an historical pictograph created by a member of the Sioux Nation. It seemed to be a perfect opening picture for this article.
