Ye Olde Watling at Christmas-time
Sightseeing in London picture - The mediaeval version of the M1 motorway artery was Watling Street, built by the Romans in perfectly straight sections and the first direct highway from the Kent Coast to North Wales. Watling Streets route through the City of London is punctuated by St Pauls Cathedral, which virtually blocks its path. In the shadow of the Worlds second largest Dome, where Bow Lane intersects Watling Street, sits Ye Olde Watling. The pub was allegedly built by St Pauls Architect, Sir Christopher Wren, to accommodate labourers building the cathedral and incorporates the timbers of old ships.
