Fatehpur Sikri is about 40 kilometers from Agra. The Mughal Emperor Akbar built it and moved his capital here in 1571. But due to shoratage of water, he had to abandon it in 1585 and move his headquaters to Agra Fort.
The place still remains intact with all its buildings in good shape and it is an inspiration to architects and designers. The buildings of Fatehpur Sikri are almost entirely made of red sandstone and is very pleasing to the eyes.
