Our group did the Escalante Route in Grand Canyon NP 10-1-07 to 10-5-07. We went down the Tanner, west on the Escalante, up the Tonto East Trail to Hoseshoe Mesa, and exited via Grandview. This 5 day trip covered about 34 miles of the steepest and roughest trail we have encountered. The Escalante is as steep and exposed as advertised, but the trail is well marked for the most part, causing us only a few stops to make sure we were indeed still on the trail.
