After our greeting we were ushered into the beautifully carved Maori Meeting house for hangi (dinner) and cultural performance of Maori song and dance. This woman displays traditional tattooing on her chin to symbolize that she is married. Showing the whites of the eyes and sticking out the tongue is a sign of welcome or friendship.
