This five-mile boulevard along the Mediterranean shore is one of the most famous streets in Europe. A portion of it is used for the Carnaval parades. I took this shot from where the bus parked, then set out to walk about half a mile to the “tribunes” (bleachers), which I estimate had room for about 3,500 spectators. The remaining thousands stood on the opposite side of the thoroughfare: you’ll see them everywhere in the photos.
