It is a easy-going city which still retains the feeling of a large country town. It is laid out in a regular fashion which makes it easy to navigate around and there is plenty to see.

The city is built on either side of the Torrens River on the flat coastal plain between Gulf St Vincent and the Mount Lofty Ranges.
