Ramoji film city, as the name suggests, is a film city near Hyderabad, which has the honour of being in the Guinness book of world records for being the worlds largest film city.

Created and developed by media mughal Ramoji Rao, the city is spread over 2500 acres. Other than being a major film making facility it is also well marketed as a popular tourist destination that has something to offer for all age groups. I visited the place a few months ago as a tourist.

Lovely streets lined with 40 or so different types of lamp posts, lush green lawns with different types of gardens, different types of fountains at some junctions (though I was surprised to see that none of them were operational at night), well made replicas of some important monuments including different kinds of film sets make it interesting to walk or drive through. Buses are available for seeing the entire film city, though private taxis are available to see the place at one's leisure. Fundoostan and Eureka are theme parks which offer entertainment to children with their rides and other attractions. Latest attractions include "movie magic" and "action" which have a theme ride called world tour very similar to a tour available in Madame Tusaauds. Action theatres give you a peek into the world of film making.

There are two hotels in the film city premise for tourists, one standard and one luxury. We stayed in the luxury hotel and the service was exemplary. The rooms were nice, the facilities in the hotel were of good standard, the restaurant served well thought about buffet's spreading a mile.

All in all a pretty exiting two days.
