Black pepper plant is a creeper. Coorg grows a lot of spices like black pepper, cardamom etc. Black pepper grows in bunches, like grapes. Of course, they are not black on the plant. They are dark green. They turn black only when dried. I brought a bunch of (green) black peppers back home in the US to show my grandchildren how black pepper grows. Unfortunately, by the time I could show the bunch to them (in two weeks), the peppers had turned black making identification easy for the kids. Nevertheless, they were still in the bunch. So I could at least show them how they grow on a plant.
