But this article is mainly for the scenery so I'll state some few points.
When in the town, don't show a lot of skin, for men try not to wear a short, for ladies don't show over the knee & don't wear cut. This is not for safety reason but for the respectance of local traditions and ethics. Siwa is one of the safest places you can visit.
For ladies, when at Cleopatra spring, at least put a Tshirt over the swim wear, this is because Cleopatra spring is a public place and locals may be offended. It is less restricted in other "private" or far springs like the one in Fatanas island, in Abo shrouf or any of the those in the desert.
When between gardens and want to eat some dates, eat as much as you can but don't take a single date with you.
You can rent a bicycle for a complete day for only 10 L.E., other means of transportation is the donkey cart (siwa taxi in the photos), or you can hire a truck/toktok/bike with more than a seat to visit the far places.
The best time to go (for Egyptians at least) is May & October, summer is too hot but it is the season for curing by sand.
I didn't mention anything yet about the desert safaris that could be done (there are several) as I didn't experience any yet, but there is a lot to be seen, remember when in the desrt TAKE NOTHING LEAVE NOTHING.
Hope you like the photos and the article.
