Kodaikanal, popularly known as Kodai, is situated on the Palani Hills at an average height of 2133 meters from the sea level. With its enchanting landscape, it is a trekker's delight and nature lover's paradise. It is also a popular honeymoon destination in South India. Kodaikanal is located in Tamil Nadu state.

I traveled to Kodaikanal from Ooty. The journey was intersting because we first drove downhills from Ooty, situated on the Nilgiri Hills, to reach the plains. Then we moved along the plains for about 180 kilometers before starting to climb the Palani Hills to reach Kodaikanal.

I stayed for two nights at Kodaikanal. We reached there around 4 p.m. That day I did not do any sightseeing. Instead, I went for an Ayurvedic massage run by an Ayurvedic Center of Kerala. A 90-minute hair to toe massage, including a steam bath at the end, cost me Rs.950/- (about US $25)!

Unfortunately, for the next two days I found some mist and fog and light drizzle in Kodai. It was not a big deal, but some of the views were obscured by fog. So I could not see a few things and could not take as many pictures as I had hoped to take. But I really cannot complain as these were the only two days out my 30 days in India that I saw some mist or light drizzle at times. On the remaining 28 days, I did not see anything but bright sunshine and cloudless blue skies.

This has been my last article on India from this latest trip in February-March of 2008. From Kodaikanal, we drove back to Bangalore straight (long drive). The next day, I took a plane to Delhi and on the next day, I flew back to the United States.
