Dear Joan, thanks ever so much for all your wonderful photos of Peru, they are Spectacular! I was there in 1973, we paid $2 a day for our hotel room in Cuzco! I wish we could have stayed longer! I was very affected by the extreme altitude, had to be given oxygen at the La Paz airport, etc. I should have had some of those "siroche" pills to fight the altitude!

Ruins/Archaelogical
Thankyou for your comments. A ruin is what remains of a town, building or structure. Archaelogy is a study of antiquities of prehistorical period. Being as Machu Picchu etc are not complete constructions they must therefore be Archaelogical ruins. Just loved your country and all the people. Wonderful holiday...

Awesome photos!
Hi Joan, I think that Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuaman,.. are "archeological places", NO ruins. Your photos are really awesome. By the way Im peruvian.

Nice shots
Nice shots Joan but Hiram Bingham rediscovered Machu Picchu in the 20th century, 1911 to be exact. Also your altitudes are off by a factor of 10. Where you write 1400 feet it should be 14,000 feet. Beautiful country, isn't it?
Cheers! Jan.
