We were in Kuttanad - the rice bowl of Kerala. It's a vast area of partly reclaimed land with bright green rice paddies separated by dikes. Most of these rice paddies are below the water line & are irrigated with fresh water from the canals & waterways. This is reminiscent of the dikes in the Netherlands where land has been reclaimed from the sea for growing crops. We had parked for the night along a dike/path near a village. The crew stayed in the village, although I suspect one stayed back as a security guard?
