A little history: When the capital of Mysore state was moved from Srirangapatnam to Mysore city in 1799, many British officers & soldiers came and settled down in Mysore. The Maharaja realized their need for a Christian church, so he gave them a small plot of land on the Mysore-Bangalore Road and a small church was built there. When the city expanded & the Christian population grew, a larger church was needed. The foundation for the new church was laid by the Maharaja in 1933 & the church was completed in 1941. Today the church stands as a monument to the secular outlook of the Mysore rulers.
