has beautiful stained glass windows from France above the sanctum. A statue of St. Philomena, brought from France in 1927, sits on an exquisite marble altar. A relic of St. Philomena is in a beautiful catacomb below the main altar. [Philomena was the daughter of the monarch of a small state in Greece. When she was 13 years' old her father took her to Rome to obtain the favour of the Emperor Diocletion who was enthralled by her beauty and wanted to marry her. But she refused & instead, vowed to give herself to God. So the Emperor had her tortured & then beheaded in Rome. She was later granted sainthood.]
